A5D flight simulation that takes you across the landscapes, history and landmarks of the Netherlands through three immersive shows. The flight takes over 22 Dutch locations, with synchronised motion, wind, mist and scent effects. During the flight youβll pass over tulip fields, the windmills of Kinderdijk, the Wadden Sea, Rotterdamβs harbor and many other iconic landscapes across the country.
The experience is located just five minutes from Amsterdam Centraal Station by taking the free ferry from Centraal Station to Buiksloterweg. After arriving, you collect your boarding pass at the check-in desk and can wait in the coffee area until your time slot is called.
When you go to the βfly overβ you have 10 minutes test how much you know about the netherlands and find hidden images on the wall.Β Β
Before the flight itself, there are two short pre-shows. These introduce the story of the Netherlands and explain how the country was literally built: the centuries-long fight against water and the engineering that turned sea floor into dry land. The shows are fast-paced, well narrated and give useful context before the main attraction.
The flight is the final part of the experience. You will fly over famous locations such as the tulip fields, the windmills of Kinderdijk, Rotterdamβs port and the Veluwe forests in autumn. The film also shows seasonal scenes like frozen canals in winter and many other distinctive landscapes across the Netherlands.
After the flight, the Holland Lounge features touchscreen maps where you can explore all the locations from the film and learn more about visiting them in real life.
An hour. Three shows. Worth every minute. The shows on Dutch history and water engineering are interesting and entertaining. They help you understand how unique the country actually is and how their fight against the water has shaped the country.Β
The 5D flight simulation is genuinely one of a kind, there is no other simulation like this in the Netherlands. During the flight motion, wind, temperature and scent effects are synchronised with the landscapes on screen, creating a surprisingly realistic sensation and emotions! We looked in awe, felt the cold of winter, grasped our seats and laughed. The end was my favorite part!
The hosts are approachable and present throughout almost every part of the experience, this makes it easy is you have any questions. Since last year, This Is Holland has also launched a free translation app with: Spanish, Italian, French, Chinese and more. This has made the experience more accessible for more visitors.Β
