Insider tips ℹ️

Bike around the pick-up location, the city centre can be very chaotic, to get used to the traffic it’s best to cycle to either to Het Scheepvaartmuseum and then the city centre or take the free ferry to NDSM and cycle to the graffiti museum STRAAT or to restaurant Pllek.

Only cycle on the bike lanes, you can recognize them by the red color.

Before turning hold out your hand if you are turning to the right or left and never stop in the middle of the lane.

Holding your phone with your hands while biking is illegal and you can get a fine of €180. If you need to check the route, hold out your hand to signal you are stopping and brake slowly.

Avoid tram rails on all cost, your wheel will get stuck and you will fall, talking from own experience.

Our rating ⭐️

Renting the bike is easy and fast thanks to the booking tool, it’s even possible to rent a couple of hours to minutes before picking it up. The shop is well-located, the bikes are in good condition and the included kitΒ  (two locks, phone holder, app access) covers everything you need to start biking right away.

What is great of renting the bike is that you can build your trip as you want, we cycled through the city centre and discovered new spots we didn’t know, like the back side of the church Krijtberg (see the pictures below).

The price very accessible, specially because you can keep the bike for 24 hours, other bike rentals like MacBike have a similar price, but the bikes are often not available on the same day. Other bike rentals are more expensive, between €18 and €24 for a whole day.

Besides the rental of the bike, Amsterbike also offers different bike tours: city centre tours, country side tours and tours to the windmills. If you prefer a guided tour, then this is also the ideal place to book it.
