Bus from Amsterdam to Schiphol Airport

The Amsterdam Airport Express, rides between the city centre and Schiphol Airport without any transfers. It’s the most convenient public transport option if you're staying in the city centre. During the day it drives every 7 to 15 minutes and at night the N97 Niteliner takes over, running once an hour.Β 

The ride

The bus departs from Leidseplein and Museumplein, both walkable from a large part of Amsterdam’s hotel and short-stay accommodation belt. The bus is the easiest option to travel to the airport without taking another form of transportation.Β 

Between midnight and 05:00, the N97 Niteliner, departs once an hour and has more stops in the city, even at Centraal Station. The buses have free Wi-Fi, and charging points for phones and devices. There’s also room for luggage.

At Schiphol, the stop is directly in front of the main entrance: Schiphol Plaza, from there you can easily reach the departure and arrival terminals.

It’s also possible to purchase your ticket directly on the bus, either by buying it from the driver or just by checking in with your card. If you tap directly with your card, don’t forget to tap it again when stepping out of the bus.Β

Airport Express review

The Amsterdam Airport Express is one of the higher-rated airport transfer options in the city. This is because of the efficiency of their service. During the day the bus departures every 15 minutes from 05 o’clock and the night bus rides also until 4:30.

The bus also gets extra points for the convenience The bus stop is right across the exit/entrace of the airport and If you are staying close to museumplein or want to visit a museum before your flight, then you can easily reach the airport without any transfers.

On board, the bus is comfortable, has Wi-Fi, charging points, live departure screens and luggage space. All you need to get ready to explore the city or get ready for you flight.

Compared to the train, the bus is the perfect way to arrive at the museumplein area, since you don’t need to squeeze yourself into the busy trams and train.Β Β

How much does the Airport Express cost?

A single ride is €6.50 and a return ticket is €11.75. Buying a return ticket saves €1.25 compared to buying two single tickets.

When is the ticket valid?
The single ride is valid only in the date of purchase, no need to schedule a timeslot. The two way ticket is valid on the selected day (first trip) and you must make the return trip within 14 days after the first trip.

When does the Airport Express ride?

The 397 bus rides four times per hour (every 10 to 15 minutes) from 5:00 to 00:00 and then the N97 drives every hour from 01:00 to 04:00. For the accurate schedule visit their side and at β€œfind timetable”  write 397 or N97 to see the whole schedule per hour and bus stop.Β 

Where does the Airport Express depart from?

The Amsterdam Airport Express departs from bus stop B17. When you exit Schiphol Plaza and turn right, you’ll see bus stop B17.Β 

From Museumplein and Leidseplein

From museumplein the bus stops across the Bols Experience or across the Concertgebouw. From Leidseplein the bus stops at the back of the square at the street of Zandpad.
